In 2016 I read a story about a writer who wanted to kill his ex-girlfriend by throwing her out of a window by her “abnormally long” butt hair. I began the zine fem rag lit mag shortly after. The first issue, bless my hairy butt, was sold across the country at some of my favorite bookstores (including City Lights in San Francisco and Powell’s Books in Portland). In an attempt to make art accessible, digital copies of the zine have always been free.

unschooling the heart

In 2020, I was a recipient of an artist grant from the Chicago non-profit 3Arts. That year and during the duration of the coronavirus outbreak, I published essays about my life and coparenting during the pandemic. My personal essay “unschooling the heart” was a feature essay in the Quarantine Times, a subsidiary of the Public Media Institute. The essay was picked up by presses across Chicago and ran in publications such as the Chicago Reader and Lumpen Times.

The 90s were wild and like many of my peers, I was raised by the television. My schedule as a child often revolved around reruns of The Simpsons. Pop-culture remains a passion and the well-constructed story of a prestige tv show will forever have my heart. I often write about tv and cinema.

Gamut Magazine

mother of dragons of chihuahuas

For the year 2017, I was a featured artist for the neo-noir publication Gamut Magazine. I published a monthly narrative column under the pseudonym the mother of dragons of chihuahuas. These essays focused on topics such as parenting as a young mom, working as a millennial, my childhood, pets and pop culture interests.
